On April 30, even CCTV Finance paid attention to the rise in lithium prices and the rise in prices of lithium battery raw materials. CCTV Finance pointed out that since the beginning of this year, the new energy vehicle market has continued to be hot, which has brought a large number of orders to upstream power battery factories and lithium product factories, and the lithium battery raw materials for new energy vehicles have also risen.

According to the report, the price of battery-grade lithium carbonate has increased from last year’s low of 38,000 yuan per ton to 90,000 yuan per ton, more than doubled; lithium hydroxide has risen from 60,000 yuan per ton to 80,000 yuan per ton. Ton.

Some experts analyzed that lithium product companies are increasing production capacity investment. It is expected that the supply-demand relationship will improve in the second half of the year, and the price of lithium products will fall to a reasonable range between 50,000 yuan and 80,000 yuan per ton.

OFweek Lithium Grid noticed that not only the prices of battery-grade lithium carbonate and lithium hydroxide have risen, but there are currently more lithium battery materials that have risen in price.

Regarding lithium hexafluorophosphate, on April 19, Fluoride (002407.SZ) issued an announcement stating that the company’s lithium hexafluorophosphate sales price will be increased by RMB 30,000/ton for various domestic customers and USD 4,500/ton for various international customers based on the original price. Ton.

This is another price increase after the March 3 price increase. In terms of specific quotation, the quotation on April 16 showed that domestically produced lithium hexafluorophosphate was about 180,000 yuan/ton to 220,000 yuan/ton. Correspondingly, in September 2020, the price of lithium hexafluorophosphate was about 70,000 yuan/ton.

In addition, the market believes that the production capacity of lithium hexafluorophosphate producers is concentrated, and the supply of new capacity is limited in the short term. Under the background of tight production capacity, the price of lithium hexafluorophosphate products is expected to reach 300,000 yuan/ton.

Lithium hexafluorophosphate rose from 70,000 yuan/ton to 210,000 yuan/ton, an increase of 200%; if it will rise to 300,000 yuan/ton, the increase will reach 329%!

In terms of lithium iron phosphate materials, data from the business agency showed that on April 30, the mainstream quotation was between 52,000 yuan/ton and 48,000 yuan/ton. As early as early January this year, the market generally quoted a price of 38,000 yuan/ton.

In other words, within 4 months, the price of lithium iron phosphate materials increased by 36.84%. At the same time, the lithium iron phosphate material market is also experiencing shortages of inventory and cessation of orders.

The current state of the market is that electrolyte-related raw materials are rising the most fiercely, followed by products related to cathode materials. In the anode market, the growth rate of anode materials has exceeded 10% this year, because the price increase of petroleum coke and needle coke related to anode materials cannot be underestimated.

The sharp rise in the price of raw materials for lithium batteries is supported by the demand side.

In terms of the lithium battery market, data shows that in the first quarter, among the main products of the national battery manufacturing industry, the output of lithium-ion batteries was 4.79 billion, an increase of 83.4% year-on-year; the output of primary batteries and primary battery packs (non-button) was 10.05 billion, an increase of year-on-year 33.0%.

In terms of new energy vehicles, data show that from January to March this year, the production and sales of new energy vehicles exceeded 500,000, reaching 533,000 and 515,000 respectively, a year-on-year increase of 3.2 times and 2.8 times.

In terms of power batteries, my country's total power battery installed capacity from January to March was 23.2GWh, a cumulative increase of 308.7% year-on-year. Among them, the cumulative installed volume of ternary batteries was 13.8GWh, accounting for 59.5% of the total installed vehicles, a cumulative increase of 219.6% year-on-year; the cumulative installed capacity of lithium iron phosphate batteries reached 9.4GWh, accounting for 40.4% of the total installed vehicles, a cumulative increase of 603.3% year-on-year.
